Oh, man, one of the best Christmases I've had in a while; our dinner party yesterday was epic and full of culinary and geeky win. Glazed ham and roasted plums, homemade tomato soup and baked salmon over pasta with fresh pesto sauce, crab cakes and mango salsa and three varieties of cookies and too many other things to count; and after that there was How to Train Your Dragon and A:TLA and so much video game and anime and movie talk on top of the expected catching-up news swapping. It's so funny to realize, ten or so years later, how similar we in this little circle of family friends truly are, how the age gaps have closed from awkwardness to awesome after all this time. :3 We decided to forgo the presents bit (we never make a big deal of it anyway), but really, after that? Presents are just small change.

I'm trying to keep myself off the AO3 today, but I did manage to read a couple of Yuletide stories, and they are glorious! I received The Sugarcane Drive, which is utterly delicious intriguing and politicking with Eugenie and Jessaline and HOMG YOU GUYS, I GOT EFFLUENT ENGINE FIC, HOW AMAZING IS THAT?!?!? I also managed to read Sincerely, Cindi, a Metropolis: The Chase Suite fic which is one of the best love letters to visionaries and revolutionaries that I have ever come across. I plan to hit up [community profile] dark_agenda's Chromatic Yuletide masterlist and trawl through the Chromatic Yuletide Madness prompts next! :D

Merry Christmas to everyone celebrating, and happy Yuletide/happy Saturday to the rest of us!
