01. (untitled) drabble! i know, i know, i'm supposed to be working on previous prompts, but then i saw an icon
( with a pair of hands (presumably Remus') framing a bit of scribbly handwriting on an envelope. )02. that five favorite fics meme... i leap for the bandwagon, yet again. :D
my favorites by far were the two fics i wrote in my Yuletide fandom,
love, do you remember my name and
The Longest Road. both are set in GGKay's Fionavar universe- i know i've been blathering on about him lately, but honestly, you should totally read his work. every book of his manages to make me cry, upon every single reading, and no other author has ever done that to me.
another favorite of mine is
train (terrain) tracks, a ficlet i wrote for Maggie for
rs_small_gifts. i loved the prompt (which was the setting), and i think i totally achieved that feeling i get whenever i'm on a train. if you haven't figured it out yet, i
love trains. *g*
i'm also inordinately proud of some of the
blanketforts stuff i wrote last year, but i'm particularly enamored of
lonely hours long and weary and its continuation,
Hyacinth. i really liked the charged atmosphere of the two of them, and i definitely achieved the sense of cold and isolation that i was going for.
i didn't really do
scarvesnhats due to school and things, but out of the three prompts that i did manage to accomplish, my favorite was definitely
compass rose. it's very experimental, extremely metaphoric, and working off of oblique angles is something that i don't do- to this degree- all that often. i'm still not sure the reader will understand what i was aiming for, but you know what? i wrote it first and foremost for myself, and i like it. *g*
03. five favorite fandom women!
( partially cut for those of you not in Kay fandoms )- Lily Evans, because she has so much potential. i'm not going to go much into this myself, as others have put it much more succinctly than i can hope to; as for me, i like her because we have so few pieces of her in canon, and i've always liked a good puzzle.
- Agnes Nutter, from
Good Omens, because
hello, you can't not love her! *g* she's far ahead of her time, if her foresight is a bit patchy, and she's deeply loyal to her family. also, you've got to admire any woman, dead or alive, who can take the wind out of Shadwell's sails in just a sentence or two.
- Elizabeth Bennet, from
Pride and Prejudice. this girl isn't afraid to speak her mind as sharply as she sees fit. she's got a quick mind and a keen eye- her sense of irony is perhaps overdeveloped (and i'll cite Mr. Bennet as the primary reason here), and her sarcasm often rockets off the charts. she loves her family just the way it is, even if she wishes all her family members would be just a little less dysfunctional at times, and she'll fight tooth and claw to keep them all happy.
PS: hi! *waves to flist* i've just arrived home from boston to a week of spring break, yay! :) you'll probably be seeing a lot more of me in the next few days.
